Chromatic illustration of the diagnosis of diseases and the use of herbs according to “Yin-Yang regulation” theory in TCM. Heat (red) diseases could be “neutralized” by herbs with the property of cold (purple) and the flavor of bitter (black) and vice versa (A). The feature of malaria is cold-heat complex in TCM, and could be cured by herbs with the property of cold and flavor of bitter such as Artemisia carvifolia (B). The feature of COVID-19 is heat and humidity and the lesion is mainly in the lungs and should be treated by herbs with the property of cold and flavor of bitters (C).
